As monks we are very conscious of the great privilege and responsibility we have to be at the very heart of the Church’s public prayer which will continue until ‘the last day.’ The sufferings, joys and aspirations of the whole world are very much a part of our constant prayer. To prevent our liturgical prayer being reduced to mere ritual each monk spends generous amounts of time in spiritual reading and personal meditation. This helps to assure that our liturgical prayer is not words alone but deep communications in the heart.
