Eoin de Bhaldraithe (Waldron) was born in Co. Mayo in 1938 and joined the Cistercians in Mount St Joseph Abbey, Roscrea in 1956. He studied at Sant’ Anselmo in Rome and was sent on the new foundation at Bolton Abbey, Moone, Co. Kildare in 1965. He was abbot from 2000 to 2006.
